The Pros and Cons of Promiscuity

clubbingFeeling frisky? With and endless range of safe sex methods and a culture growing increasingly lax in its view on sex and sexuality, promiscuity may not have the same stigma as it used to. Here are some pros and cons to getting your groove on with multiple partners:
Cons:
1.    If you’re not careful, you could catch and spread sexually transmitted diseases or get pregnant.
2.    Once you get used to “sleeping around” you may have trouble committing long-term if you find “the one.”
3.    You could get hurt emotionally or hurt one of your partners emotionally if you show no interest in taking a relationship to the “exclusive” level.
4.    You could taint your reputation.
Pros:
1.    If you’re careful, you can have multiple partners and not worry about pregnancy or STDs. Make sure you’re always taking the pill (Yasmin is a reliable one) and that you have some morning after pills for emergencies. Also, always use a condom, even for oral sex.
2.    It could be a lot of fun to have no-strings-attached sex.
3.    There’s nothing wrong with exploring your various sexual attitudes (which come out with different partners) while you’re young and unattached.
4.    Being with different people (both physically and emotionally) could help you later determine the type of person you’d like to settle with more permanently.
Again, the most important thing you need to be careful of: Protection, protection, and protection. You need to be careful about diseases, pregnancy, your emotions, the emotions of your partners, and overall safety. Get tested regularly and insist that your partner(s) get tested if you’ll be engaging in multiple sexual relationships. And being promiscuous doesn’t mean that it’s okay to go home with complete strangers—that is never safe and is never a good idea. You need to establish some sort of a relationship with someone before you know whether or not that person can be trusted.
